Larson and Wade medal in high school golf action

Hounds get by Keokuk 5-4
FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison Bloodhound boys' tennis team was able to take advantage of two forfeits coupled with two wins in singles play and a doubles win to get a 5-4 win over Keokuk Monday in Fort Madison.
The Hounds got wins at Nos. 3 and 4 singles with Peyton Howard and Holden Fraise both getting wins. Howard won 8-2 over Keokuk’s Evan Carr, while Fraise knocked off Kole Keppel at No. 4 8-5.
Cal Hennings would get a forfeit win at No. 6 singles for the split in individual play. Rowan Benda lost to the Chiefs' Tyce Hoppe 3-8, and James Janic lost a tiebreaker to Jaxton McNally 7-9 to round out singles action.
Janic and Fraise teamed up at No. 2. doubles to roll past Carr and Keppel 8-2.  The Hounds also got a critical forfeit at No. 3 doubles to get the win. Benda and Howard fell 5-8 in No. 1 singles.
The Bloodhounds improve to 1-1 in both Southeast Conference play and overall play, and host Burlington in another conference matchup Tuesday in Fort Madison.

Wade medals at SEC golf meet
KEOKUK – Brady Wade shot a sparkling even par 36 at Elks Country Club Monday night to lead Fort Madison in another Southeast Conference meet in Keokuk.
Wade’s even par helped Fort Madison to a 174 3rd-place finish behind Washington 160 and Mt. Pleasant 164. Keokuk finished 5th with a 188.
Runner-up medalists were Drew Myers and Carson Brown, both with 38s.
For the Hounds, Cole Quittem shot a 42, Graeme Meredith a 43, and Colton Boyer carded a 53.

Larson medalist at dual with BND
DONNELLSON – Caleb Larson birdied the par-4 No. 1 hole at Green Acres Monday night and finished with a 40 to earn medalist honors for Central Lee.
The Hawks took on Burlington Notre Dame in a boys'/girls' dual meet that the Hawk boys won 164-176. Central Lee’s Bo Herdrich and Carson Morrison both fired 41s to earn co-runner-up medalist honors.  Carver Hayes and Carter Jones each shot a 42.
On the girls' side, Central Lee’s Marie Young carded a 55, while Reegyn Scott shot a 61, and Sydney Gram finished with a 63 for the Lady Hawks. The Hawks only rostered three girls so couldn’t qualify for team scoring.

Lady Hounds stay perfect
FAIRFIELD — The shutout streak for Fort Madison’s girls' soccer team continued with Monday’s 3-0 win at Fairfield.
The Bloodhounds (4-0-1 overall, 2-0 Southeast Conference) have outscored their opponents 28-0 this season.
Kara Lake opened the scoring with a goal at the 21:08 mark of the first half. The Bloodhounds didn’t score again until Teagan Snaadt’s goal with 24:30 left in the game. Snaadt closed the scoring with a goal with 7:18 to play.
Snaadt had an assist on Lake’s goal. Hadley Wolfe and Reilynn Turnbull had assists on Snaadt’s goals.
Goalkeeper Ellie Hellman had five saves.
Fort Madison plays host to Burlington at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Baxter Sports Complex.

Wright leads FM lady golfers to 2nd
FORT MADISON - Natalie Wright carded a 49 and tied for 3rd individually as Fort Madison took second place at a Southeast Conference girls' match at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Club.
The Hounds finished with a score of 210 behind Keokuk's 206.
Kylie Lumino shot a 51 which tied her for fifth with Keokuk's Delaney Ruhl. Jaycee Fullenkamp shot a 52 for Fort Madison.

FM girls fall to Keokuk
KEOKUK - Fort Madison's girls' tennis team fell 6-3 to Keokuk Monday night.
Alyssa Crowther and Lily Buckner got wins for the Lady Bloodhounds in singles action at Nos. 5 and 6. Crowther went into extra play in both sets for a 7-5, 7-5 win over Keokuk's Elizabeth Stambaugh. Buckner got back-to-back shutouts at 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Sydney McEntee and Marlee Weiler got the only doubles win for Fort Madison, knocking off Paityn James and Baylee Picton 10-2.
No. 1 seed Lila Shepard fell 0-6, 0-6 and Mady Emmett fell 1-6, 3-6 at No. 2. Lucielle Zimmerman and Athena Snook both fell at Nos. 3 and 4. Zimmerman lost in extra play in the first set 5-7 and 4-6 to Gracie Thompson. Snook lost 6-7, 4-6.
