Susan “Shoshanna” Rickert Horton, 66, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Susan was born on November 21, 1957, in Aurora, Colorado, the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Symmonds) Rickert. She was employed as a secretary for most of her career, most notably at the Wisdom Center in Texas. She was of the Christian faith, attending several local churches and online churches. Her faith was a central aspect of her life, and she could often be found reading her Bible and praying. She enjoyed watching documentaries and especially loved Formula 1 racing. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and flying with her father in his plane.
Susan is survived by her son Elias Horton of Keokuk; her nephew Adam Rickert; three great-nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her brother Mark Rickert and her daughter Carissa Horton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the funeral home.
