Rump wins second straight run

Tripp and others set season best marks at Silver Streak Invite

GALESBURG – Avery Rump is off to another strong start to the cross country fall season.
Rump captured her second consecutive title Saturday with an 18:44.62 at the 20-school Sliver Streak Invitational at Lake Storey north of Galesburg on a chilly morning.
Rump won Thursday’s Keokuk Invitational and also has a runner-up at the Cedar Rapids Prairie to start the season.
Twin sister Addison Rump had a 19:47.98 as the second fastest for the Lady Hounds. That was her fastest time of the season to date.
Bloodhound Riley Tripp is also off to a strong start. Tripp took 10th overall in the boys’ run to lead Fort Madison. Tripp ran a 16:29.51 which is a full 30 seconds faster than his season’s best the previous two meets.
Hunter Wiegand ran a 17:18.13 which was 32nd best in the field and second fastest for the Bloodhounds. Nolan Guzman and Mason McLey were 51st and 55th overall at 18:08.79 and 18:10.74, respectively. Oliver Wiese rounded out the top for Fort Madison with an 18:40.33.
Other runners for the boys included: Logan McClure 18:44.64 (69), Jacob Walker 18:52.90 (73), Colton Tripp 20:04.18 (103), Zach Hermes 20:05.51 (105), Elie Brunault 20:31.30 (119), Jake Haessig 20:33.84 (123), and Jackson Haessig 24:06.98.
Rounding out the top five for the Lady Hounds was Mara Smith at 20:45.86 just outside of the top 20 at 21. McKayla Schinstock in 24th place at 20:59.21, and Ellie Hellman with a 21:40.81 (35).
Other Lady Hounds running around the lake were Eloise Lamb with a 22:20.80 (47), Ellie Huebner 22:39.19 (54), and Jordyn Marshall 22:39.52 (55).
