Sandoval named SEISC South Player of the Year

LEE COUNTY - Central Lee’s Kenna Sandoval was named the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division’s player of the year, as chosen by the conference’s coaches.
Holy Trinity’s Loren Menke was named the division’s coach of the year after guiding the Crusaders to a 20-8 overall record and 7-5 in the division.
Sandoval was one of four Hawks selected for the all-division first team, joining catcher Marie Young, infielder Jaci Hawk and utility player Carlee Pezley. Three Holy Trinity players — pitcher Sydney Jarvis, infielder Alivia Holmes and outfielder Kenna Gittings — also were first-team picks. 
Sandoval hit .472 for the Hawks, with a 1.409 OPS. She led the team with eight home runs and was second with 28 runs batted in. She also had a team-high 19 stolen bases.

Young batted .395 with a team-high 13 doubles. Hawk hit .379 with 16 runs batted in. Pezley batted .342 with eight doubles and 9 RBIs.
Jarvis was 16-5 with a 2.41 earned run average, striking out 148 in 125 innings. She was also one of the best hitters in Iowa, ranking seventh in the state and fifth in Class 1A with a .593 batting average. Jarvis had four home runs and tied for fifth in 1A with 49 runs batted in.
Holmes batted .531, 15th best in Class 1A, while driving in 19 runs. She had seven doubles. Gittings batted .416 with 25 RBIs.
Central Lee infielder Olivia Day (.329, 16 RBIs) and outfielder Jali Hawk (.260) were named to the second team. Holy Trinity catcher Ellie Hellman (.328, 15 RBIs), infielder Emily Ross (.293, 8 doubles, 15 RBIs) and utility player Makayla Simpson (.380, 14 RBIs) also were named to the second team.
Central Lee’s Aubree Bunnell and Elaina Barlow, along with Holy Trinity’s Cadyn Holmes and Morgan Krogmeier, were honorable-mention selections.
