Andrea “Deon” Lung, 70, of Niota, Illinois, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2026, at her home.
Deon was born on August 28, 1956, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of David George and Shirley Ann (Boston) Gnann.
Survivors include her son: Drew Lung of Niota, Illinois; two sisters: Debra (Byron) Shanks of Greenville, Illinois, and Danette (Jae) Yun of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers: Dana (Maureen) Gnann of Fort Madison, Iowa, Douglas (Diane) Gnann of Wever, Iowa, and Dennis (Margie) Gnann of Wever, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and niece: Beth Gnann.
Deon was a graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School and Southeastern Community College in Keokuk. She worked for Sheaffer Pen Company for a short time, until she began working at Union Electric from 1976 until her retirement in 2011. After her retiring, she stayed busy as a tour guide for the Nauvoo Historical Society, volunteered at the Harmony Bible Church Library and attended Ladies Bible Study in Nauvoo. Deon loved animals, especially raising her horses. Her favorite was a Palomino named Nuggett. She also was a history buff and an avid reader. She would devour every book she could get her hands on.
Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz - Banks and Beals for cremation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
