Last-minute goal lifts Hounds over BHS
BURLINGTON – A goal in the final minute from Connor Horn gave the Fort Madison Bloodhounds a hard-fought win over Burlington Thursday night at Bracewell Stadium.
Burlington had the early lead with a goal two and a half minutes into the second period, after a scoreless first half.
Then the Bloodhounds shook the cobwebs loose and took to the offensive. Henry Graham scored on a 20-footer from the left side forward on a shot into the right side of the net on assists from Jonah Santiago and Jacob Shottenkirk.
With the Fort Madison defense holding and Karson Dixon busy in the keep knocking away six shots on goal, the Hounds held on until Horn scored unassisted with 30 seconds left in the match to seal the win.
The Hounds improve to 2-1 on the year and are 2-0 in the Southeast Conference with a win earlier this week over Fairfield.
The jayvee squad also won 2-1.
The Hounds host tournament play at Baxter Sports Complex Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
