FM girls win division as Hounds and Hawks run at Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS – Fort Madison’s Riley Tripp finished runner up in the Orange Division at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational Saturday morning. He finished 19th overall. Avery Rump captured second in the girls' Orange division with a 19:27.4 behind Monticello’s Mary Gracy Lyons’ 19:04.6.
Rump joined Addison Rump and Mara Smith in the top 10 to help the Lady Hounds to the Orange Division title and a fifth-place overall finish. Pella’s Marissa Ferebee won the overall with an 18:32.1.
Tripp’s 17:07.0 was 26.4 seconds off the pace set by Clear Creek-Amana’s Carson Mesikman who finished at 16:40.4. The second-place finish helped the boys to a runner-up finish as a team with 64 points to CC-A’s 30 in the Orange Division.
Western Dubuque Epworth’s Quentin Nauman won the overall title at 15:12.40. Iowa City High won the overall title.
The Clippers had four of the top 10 runners and their five scorers finish in the top 11 in the Orange Division.
Fort Madison’s Hunter Weigand took 6th overall with a 17:48.70. Nolan Guzman ran an 18:28.0 (16th), followed by Mason McLey 18:29.2 (18h), and freshman Logan McClure popped onto the radar with a 19:03.4 (22nd).
Other finishers for the Hounds included freshman Oliver Wiese 19:21.5 (27th) and sophomore Jacob Walker 19:29.5 (30th), Zach Hermes 20:41.6 (48th), Colin Tripp (21:15.5), and Jake Haessig (21.50.7),
The Central Lee boys took 8th with 178 points in the Orange Division. Orion St. Clair was tops for the Hawks with a 19:06.3 (23rd). Other scorers for the Hawks included Austin Fogarty 19:10.20 (25th), Caedon Newton 20:16.9 (40th), Caden Crozier 20:21.1 (44th), and Kaidin Humes 21:38.1 (55th). Brett Cook finished at 21:57.1, followed by Kyler Mulligan (23:22.6), Jaedin Oglesby (23:26.1), and Ayden Gerveler (29:31.80).
In the girls' run, Addison Rump raced to a 20:24 and Smith ran a 21:26.8 for the Lady Hounds. Other scoring runners were Jordyn Marshall 22:34 and Ellie Hellman at 23:05.60. Ellie Huebner finished with a 24:44.3.
Central Lee took 6th place overall with 152 points. Macy Anderson led the Lady Hawks with a 23:36.9 (21st) followed by Afton Maynes’ 24:23.6 (27th) and Aubree Bunnell 24:28.3 (28th). Other Hawk scoring runners included Evelyn Adkins 26:17.80 (37th) and Charlee Clay 28:53.6 (39th). Other runners for the Lady Hawks included Gabby Maynes 29.32.2 and Rachel Buch 39:57.10.
