Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Karen L. Dinwiddie, 64, Montrose

Karen Linda Dinwiddie, 64 of Montrose, IA passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 at her home.
She was born January 12, 1960 at the March Reserve Air Force Base in CA the daughter of Albert and Rubey Wickham Pihl.  After high school, she graduated from Southeastern Community College earning her registered nursing degree.
On October 27, 1990, Karen was united in marriage to Garry Milton Dinwiddie at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Montrose.  He preceded her in death on April 8, 2018.
Karen had been employed as a triage nurse by Keokuk Area Hospital and later by Henry County Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, IA.
Karen found joy in the simple pleasures.  She loved exploring flea markets, crafting and attending auctions, always discovering unique treasures.  Karen was very social and had a quick wit and great sense of humor.  She enjoyed playing cards and games but her favorite thing to do was spending time with her close friends and family, especially her grandchildren. 
She is survived by one son, Jacob Pihl of Yucaipa, CA and four grandchildren, Madalyn Weigand, Zoe Burgess, Ali Burgess and Miles Burgess.  She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Palmer and JoAnn Crafton both of Ft. Madison, IA, one brother, Sten “Steve” Pihl (Joan) of Ft. Madison, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Jeanine Whisenand and two brothers-in-law, Jack Whisenand and Randy Crafton.
A celebration of life will be held from 3-5 p.m., Tuesday, November 5 at the Moose Lodge #671, 624 Ave G, Ft. Madison, IA with family meeting with friends at that time.
