Bloodhound girls 3rd, boys 4th at Keosippi Relays

KEOKUK – The Keokuk Chief boys ran away with title at Tuesday’s Keosippi Relays.
The Chiefs racked up 134 points, a full 44 ahead of second-place Mt. Pleasant, behind the heavy sprint success of Ryan and Jackson Bair. Fort Madison was fourth with 87 points and Central Lee was seventh with 36.
In the girls' event, Fort Madison took 3rd with 73 points. Keokuk was 4th at 70 points and Central Lee was ninth with 16 points.
Fort Madison’s Addison Rump took first in the 3000-meter run with an 11:26.60. The Lady Hounds also got first-place finishes in a couple relays, as well. In the 4x800 relay featuring Mara Smith, McKayla Schinstock, Avery Rump, and Addison Rump at 10:03.06. The Sprint Medley team of Lia Mason, Peyton Burch, Smith, and Charley Huebner ran a 1:55.77.
In the boys' event, Nolan Guzman captured the title in the open 800 with a 2:00.77. He also anchored the 4x800 relay team of Mason McLey, Riley Tripp, and Ireland motoring to an 8:16.17, which is a top-40 time in the state.
Hunter Smrt won the high jump with a 6-foot jump for the Bloodhounds. Jack Benner took the title in the discus with a spin of 133’5”.
The Chiefs won six events in total in the boys’ events.
