Davis tapped for SEISC South 1st-team

Five Hawks land on second team all-conference south division

LEE COUNTY - Central Lee’s Blake Davis was a first-team infield selection on the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division baseball teams released Wednesday night.
Five Hawks — pitcher Chase Johnson, catcher Bo Herdrich, infielder Gage Van Ausdall, outfielder Kayden Calfee and utility player Hunter Edlin — were named to the second team.
Davis, a sophomore, hit .450 with a 1.337 OPS. He led the team with six home runs and 27 runs batted in. As a pitcher, Davis went 5-1 with an 0.82 earned run average, striking out 54 in 25 ⅔ innings.
Johnson was 3-0 with a 3.53 ERA. He struck out 38 in 33 ⅔ innings. Johnson also batted .313 and drove in 12 runs.

Herdrich hit .357 with a 1.157 OPS. He had four home runs and drove in 23 runs.
Van Ausdall hit .288 with three home runs. Calfee hit .288 and drove in 15 runs. Edlin hit .309 and drove in 14 runs.
Ward Fraise (.287, 10 RBIs) and Caedon Newton (.250) were Central Lee’s honorable mention selections.
Mediapolis, which qualified for the Class 2A state tournament, had five first-team selections, including catcher Lance Ludens, the division’s player of the year. Mediapolis’ Rick Whitaker and New London’s Jayden Flowers shared the division’s coach of the year award.
Pekin’s Henry Adam was the North Division’s player of the year. Hillcrest Academy’s Danny Hershberger was the division’s coach of the year.
