MACOMB – The Central Lee boys' and girls' track teams got a different look at an outdoor meet and took full advantage, setting 19 personal records running, jumping, and throwing at Western Illinois University.
One of the personal bests was set by Evan Fogarty who participated in the triple jump, which is no longer an event in Iowa. Fogarty went 34’1.5”, prompting head coach Tyler Bryant to joke Fogarty may have some records.
“It was a fun, different meet for our kids and we achieved 19 PRs, 13 boys, 6 girls. I would joke and say that Evan Fogarty is 1st in Iowa in the triple jump and now has the school record for it. Aubrey Weber was our only medalist due to a tiebreaker in high jump,” he said.
Weber finished 2nd in the discus with a hurl of 103’8”, a personal best for her.
Allison Gruntmeir leaped 4’9.75” in the high jump to tie her for third. She also ran the 100 hurdles at 18.17 for 4th and another PR.
Other top performers for the Lady Hawks included; Aurora Edens in discus with 76-10; Kaylie Peterson in the 100 meters with 14.65, Eliza Wagner in 100 meters at 15.50; and the 4x200 relay team of Kamryn Cox, Allison Gruntmeir, Ava Washburn, and Aurora Edens at 2:02.26, all personal records.
On the boys' side, Caedon Newton was 5th in the 3200 at 12:13.53 and the 4x200 relay team of Brayden Wyrick, Brett Cook, Blake Davis, and Luke Kruse with a 1:38.65 also earned a 5th-place finish, both personal records.
