HAWKS GOLF PREVIEW

Hawks bring experience back to links

Boys' team has strong numbers; girls fielding just four

DONNELLSON – Central Lee golf coach Mike Ungerer has a boys' team with exceptional number and a girls' squad with just four.
The boys will be featuring top returners Caleb Larson, Mylan Lowenberg, Carter Jones, Bo Herdrich, and Carson Morrison. Ungerer said any one of those players could be a medalist at any time of the year.
“Our strength is our competitive depth. Any player can be our medalist.”
With the strong top five, Ungerer said Carver Hayes, Kaden Swan or Hunter Edlin could be the sixth player to contribute during the season.
The Hawks finished runner-up to Mediapolis last season in conference play and have all but one player returning.
“We should be right there to win the conference,” he said.

The girls' squad is on the other side of the spectrum.
Marie Young, Reegyn Scott, and Sydney Gram are returning from the 2024 squad.
Ungerer said their strength will be experience and from the tee box, but work on scoring will come during the season.
“We need to work on chipping around the green and putting.”
Lily Smith is the fourth girl and the only other player on the squad.
“With only four players, it will be hard to compete as team, but I think some of the girls can earn all-conference honors as individuals,” he said.
He said New London and Highland will likely be at the top of the conference in team play.
