MEDIAPOLIS – The Central Lee Lady Hawks got out of the gate strong against Mediapolis Tuesday night, but couldn’t wrap things up as they fell 3-1 in SEI Super Conference volleyball action.
Central Lee took the first set, needing an extra point to do at 26-24, but then fell 17-25, 21-25, 19-25 to fall to 5-5 on the season and opened conference play at 0-1.
“We just didn't have the finish tonight.  We did not stay consistent and push through to the end.  We talk about our challenges we have as a team and that we are still trying to figure each other out and gel together as a team,” head coach Amy Cook said.
“We can continue to talk about this, but now we need to face them and fight through the hard. We need to build each other up and always think about what we can do for our teammates to help our team get better.”

Jayden Mueller had 40 digs in the four sets. Kenna Sandoval had 23 digs and 28 assists.
Taylor Jones had 13 kills to lead the Hawks at the net. Chloee Haigh had 11 kills and five blocks.
The Bulldogs move to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in SEISC play.  “Mepo is a very scrappy team. They covered the court extremely well.  We attempted to place the ball, however they did a great job of reading and covering through spots.”
Central Lee hosts New London on Thursday night and then travels to Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday.
