DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks opened the boys' soccer season with a whole bunch of offense Tuesday night.
The Hawks took advantage of some speed and scored four goals unassisted in a 6-0 shutout of Centerville at Central Lee.
Zach Estrada scored two of the goals, the first to open the match at the 34:08 mark unassisted, and then he scored again on a penalty kick at 19:58 in the second half. Estrada, just a sophomore, also had an assist on a pass to Reece Hayes. He had seven shots, four on goal, and racked up five individual points. Players get two points for a goal and one point for an assist.
Senior Ayden Kent also had a couple goals, both on streaks to the net unassisted. He had four shots on goal in the match.
Micah Ashmore had the other goal for the Hawks.
Max Jones pitched the shutout in the keep with four saves.
The Hawks held a 2-0 lead at the half and then got three more goals before the 17-minute mark of the second half. Ashmore finished off the scoring on an unassisted goal with :15 left.
The Hawks (1-0) travel to Fairfield Thursday night for a non-conference matchup. They play at Keokuk Monday before opening Super Conference play against WACO Tuesday in Donnellson.
