HTC sweeps SEISC South volleyball honors

Myers, Kruse named Players of the Year; Freesmeier Coach of the Year

LEE COUNTY - Holy Trinity swept the top honors for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division volleyball teams.
Senior Presley Myers and junior Adalyn Kruse shared the division’s player of the year award. Melissa Freesmeier was named the division’s coach of the year.
Myers and Kruse were named first-team hitters. Olivia Bendlage was a second-team hitter, while Elizabeth Griffin was named as a second-team setter. Emma Mohrfeld and Calli Kruse were honorable-mention selections.
Adalyn Kruse led the Crusaders with 369 kills. Myers had 319 kills and a team-high 75 blocks. Bendlage had 203 kills. Griffin was the team leader in assists with 496. Mohrfeld had 65 kills, while Calli Kruse had 442 assists.
Central Lee placed three players on the first team — hitter Taylor Jones, setter Kenna Sandoval and libero Jayden Mueller.
Jones led the Hawks with 213 kills. Sandoval led them in assists with 555. Mueller was the team leader with 566 digs.
Chloee Haigh and Brylee Cook were Central Lee’s honorable mention selections. Haigh led the Hawks with 47 blocks, while Cook was the team’s top server with 46 aces.
Myers, Adalyn Kruse, Sandoval and Mueller were unanimous selections.
SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE: Fort Madison’s Dayonna Davis was a second-team selection on the Southeast Conference volleyball teams.
Davis led the Bloodhounds with 264 kills and was the team’s top server with 51 aces.
Fort Madison senior Jaycee Fullenkamp and junior Kylie Lumino were honorable-mention selections.
Washington’s Leighton Messenger was the conference’s player of the year.
Seven Bloodhounds were named to the conference’s all-academic team — Davis, Lumino, Maleena Bentley, Mackenzie Huebner, Alaina Schwerin and Alyssa Rife.
