Editor:
If I were pursuing the career of a fifth generation farmer I would take great pride in that and dedicate my life to it. I definitely wouldn’t be asking people to vote to send me to Des Moines for five months of the year so I can play politician.
Shouldn’t Blaine Watkins be spending the winter at home with his parents helping to get machinery ready for spring planting, making infrastructure repairs and participating in business planning? If there are livestock involved that’s a full time job by itself. Is there a matter of scrambled priorities? To show respect for his family and the profession it seems like his energies should represent an undistracted loyalty to the farm.
Matt Mohrfeld has thirty years of successful business background, six years involvement with municipal government, eight years background in county government as a member of the board of supervisors and yes he fully understands the challenges of our valued rural community and will serve and protect them with unwavering loyalty.
The unprecedented knowledge and experience he would take to Des Moines as our district 100 representative is invaluable. It would give Lee County an impressive voice right out of the gate.“R” or “D” it doesn’t matter. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity. Vote smart November 3rd. Vote Matt Mohrfeld.
