KEOSAUQUA – The Central Lee boys came out as advertised Monday night in the first outing of the year against Van Buren in a dual meet at Keosauqua.
Caleb Larson and Carter Jones each carded a 39 to tie the Warriors' Aidan McAntee for medalist honors.
Larson carded the only eagle of the day on the par 5 Hole No. 1 at Riverview Golf Course with a three. He continued that run on the par 5s with a birdie on Hole No. 6 to go 3-under on par 5s. Jones had a bogey and double bogey to go with seven pars to tie the 39.
Carson Morrison shot a 41, Mylan Lowenberg and Bo Herdrich each came in nine with 44s for a 163 team score. Carver Hayes shot a 45 on the back end of the scoring for Central Lee. Kaden Swan shot a four-over 40 for the junior varsity squad. Hunter Edlin came in with a 42.
Van Buren shot a 176 led by McAntee’s 39. Will Cocherell played six-over golf with a 42.
On the girls' side, Van Buren won 211-257. The Warriors’ Sophia Jirak was medalist with an 8-over 44. Marie Young shot a 57 to lead the Lady Hawks. Sydney Bram shot a 65 and was followed by Lily Smith’s 67 and Reegyn Scott’s 68.
