DONNELLSON – The Central Lee boys fell short in a SEI Superconference matchup Tuesday night at Central Lee in a 51-45 loss.
A slow start doomed the Hawks as they managed just two points in the first quarter while the Nikes (9-2, 7-2) built a quick 11-2 lead. However, Central Lee came flying back in the second quarter behind Chase Johnson’s seven points, outscoring Notre Dame 17-11 for a 22-19 Notre Dame lead.
The Hawks would lead by as many as four points in the third quarter at 27-23 but Notre Dame would battle to a 32-32 tie at the start of the fourth period.
Central Lee would get a 35-34 lead two minutes into the quarter but would get stuck at 35 in the middle of a 6-2 run by the Nikes.
A 3-ball by Jack Drew put Notre Dame up 41-38 and Shay Stephens went 7 of 7 from the freethrow line down the stretch to give the Nikes the win.
The Hawks fall to 4-5 in the SEISC and 5-7 overall.
Kaden Swan led Central Lee with 13 points followed by Will Hayes with nine and Carson Morrison added six.
