KEOKUK – The Keokuk Chiefs lost a five-setter to Winfield Mt. Union on Friday night in Keokuk.
The Chiefs won the first set 25-19 and then dropped the second two 21-25, 23-25 before rebounding in the fourth set 25-19. The Wolves, however, won the tiebreaker 15-11 to take the match.
Kendra Boatman and Brinklee Altgilbers combined for 14 kills to lead the Chiefs' attack at the net. Sophomore Hallie Bender had 25 assists. Keokuk dug out 38 balls on the night led by Kylie Sisk’s 11. Altgilbers had eight and Boatman added seven. Boatman was also 18-20 serving with six aces for a 90% efficiency behind the line.
The Chiefs are 0-4 on the year and host Burlington in a Southeast Conference matchup Tuesday night.
