Iowa for years was in the top three in providing quality public education. We are now in the bottom half. And school vouchers are not going to help. Ask yourself if you want your tax dollars subsidizing Des Moines Dowling whose Tuition is 11,000 a year. I want my tax dollars to provide a great public school education for all Iowa school children regardless of their income
Everyone has a cancer story here in Iowa. We have way too many people battling cancer in this state. Iowa has a terrible record with cancer. We are 2nd in the nation in cancer rates. We must tackle this issue. Pollution and terrible water quality is the problem. The current republican leaders namely Blaines Watkins and Jeff Reichman have done nothing to help Iowans stay healthy.
How many of you have moved a substantial amount of their health care needs to Iowa City. Iowa ranks 44th in the nation for physicians per capita.
We need more local healthcare. We can't ask the people of Lee County to drive long distances to get quality healthcare. Young people need quality reproductive healthcare here in Lee County. Seniors need quality healthcare not an hour or longer drive. We can't allow our area to become a healthcare desert as so many rural countries have.
We need a strong voice in Des Moines to address these issues. Matt Mohrfeld has the experience and the drive to tackle these problems. Ask yourself when you go in the voting booth. Is your healthcare better? Are your children or grandchildren better educated? Are your finances better today? We all know the answer in our hearts and need to make the change. Or as Governor Vilsack says “We Need to rotate the crops”. Blaine Watkins has been absent on all these issues.
