Salem reader supports Bohannan

The Constitution of the United States is one of the greatest legal documents ever conceived as a protection of the liberty of a free people.
Christina Bohannan, candidate for Congress knows this.  Bohannan knows and studies the Constitution.  She teaches the Constitution, democracy and the rule-of-law at the University of Iowa and has great appreciation for their meaning throughout our history.
Now, more than ever we need Christina Bohannan in Washington where the Constitution guides legislative actions every minute of every day.
The Constitution is not complicated.  It is easy to read.
It is about the freedom of all of us to direct and determine our future.  It is not about monarchs, kings, queens.
Our Constitution is in danger.  Those who pay attention find from his words and actions that Donald Trump knows little of and disregards the Constitution.  As with all authoritarian rulers, It is in his way.

The core of the document is Articles I, II and III.  These clearly provide a balance of power and check on the abuse of power, as designed by Washington, Franklin, Hamilton, Madison, Monroe, Jefferson and many more.
These "checks and balances" restrain the grab for limitless power at the expense of freedom and the vast accumulation of and abuse of wealth while in office.   Trump lusts for both.
The greatest freedoms to us all are the Five Freedoms of the 1st Amendment in the Bill of Rights.  Trump's actions undermine these freedoms at every turn as Bohannan's opponent stands idly by.
Congress needs talented people who know and fight for our Constitutional freedoms.  In the words of Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, "government of the people, by the people and for the people."
Christina Bohannan guides her life and work by these words.  She can be trusted in Washington to fight to keep us free.
